Julie LeMaire's Sharks saw three honored by the College Sports Communicators as members of the Academic All-District Teams.
Gianna Russo,
Brianna Matthews and
Ana Richiez were all named as selections to the CSC's Academic All-District Teams as some of the best both athletically and academically in Division II softball.
Brianna Matthews served as the Sharks' everyday left fielder and hit .325 on the season at the plate while earning a fielding percentage of .976 on 85 fielding opportunities. Matthews hit six extra base hits for 13 RBI while stealing a team-leading 19 bases.
Gianna Russo made web gem after web gem as NSU's second baseman. Russo mashed ten home runs on the season to pull in for a tie at second place for most home runs in a NSU career with 21. She collected 32 RBI while hitting .327 on the season.
Ana Richiez was the Sharks' only two-way player performing both at the plate and in the circle. Richiez hit .277 at the dish with four home runs and 29 RBI on the season. Meanwhile, in the circle she pitched six winning decisions in 82.1 innings pitched for a 3.06 ERA in her first season with the Sharks.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played
OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances
OR pitched 35 innings.
